We look at students as individual image bearers of the living God with varied gifts and talents. Rather than relegating a child of a certain age to a specific grade we assess students in math, reading, and writing to place them in their appropriate learning level. Because we rotate through eras of time as an entire school we are able to accommodate advanced students, average students, and struggling students without compromising the content they study.
To ensure that we meet our students' needs, we offer our fields of study at the same time each day so students can be in a more advanced reading level while being in a slower paced math level. This helps us meet students' needs and individualize education within our organization.
We believe that the best way to educate children is through the Trivium and Quadrivium (see below for more information). These ideas come from the Liberal Arts Tradition where the Trivium gives students the foundation for skill in words and the Quadrivium gives students skills in numbers. It is through this Christian education that students are aimed at truth in all that they study.
Trivium means (3 paths) and these three paths are grammar, logic, and rhetoric. The Trivium encompasses the "art of words." Grammar is the concrete knowledge needed for building upon, then logic is the reasoning through ideas and words, finally, rhetoric is where the knowledge is put into action and wisdom pours out. This process of learning is intertwined into everything we study. Rather than education that is focused on mile wide education we desire mile deep education. Education is formative rather than simply informative.
The Quadrivium (4 paths) is the art of numbers. Arithmetic is the understanding of numbers themselves, Geometry is numbers in space, Music as numbers in time, and finally the Cosmos which is numbers in space and time. To the Christian, this is where the deep study and thereby understanding of God's masterful creation is fostered.
